The "Create an Associated Record" action allows you to seamlessly create new custom object records and associate them with a specific contact. By streamlining data organization and linking relevant information, this action supports improved efficiency in workflow management.

📌Note: Before using this feature, you will need to create an association for the object in the Object Settings in your account.

How It Works

Navigate to Automation > Workflows, and either create a new workflow from scratch or open an existing contact-based workflow.

📌Note: This feature enhances the ability to manage and track related entities tied to contacts and thus will not appear in Object-based workflows.

Add the relevant workflow triggers and actions then add the Create an Associated Record action to generate a new custom object.

Action Name 

Update the action name to accurately reflect its intended purpose.

Object Record to Create 

Choose the appropriate custom object from the dropdown menu.

After selecting the object, specify the fields that should be populated. You can define multiple fields for the newly created object record by clicking the “+ Add Field” button.

Next, define the appropriate association label to link the record. An association label is used to categorize the relationship between the contact and the custom object.

Finally, save the action and activate the workflow to automate the process as required.

By utilizing the "Create Associated Record for Contact" action, you can easily automate the creation of custom object records and establish clear connections between contacts and related data. This functionality simplifies the tracking and management of crucial business processes, contributing to more organized and efficient workflows.

Practical Example

Consider a company that needs to track important dates. When an Opportunity is marked as "Won," the system should automatically create a custom object record for tracking these dates. When the workflow is triggered, it automatically creates the record and associates it with the contact, allowing seamless tracking of information.

✍️Important Notes

• The newly created object record is automatically linked to the contact, using the selected label for categorization.
• You can utilize custom values and merge fields to dynamically populate custom fields in the newly created object.
