B-017. Link Tree

The Link Tree module is a user-friendly tool that allows businesses to create a central hub for all their important links and social profiles. It includes customizable buttons, profile photos, bio lines, and subscription forms, all managed through Extendly’s custom values system.

How It Works: Surface Level

When the automation fires:

  • It displays a profile photo, a bio line, and a tree of links.
  • Users can subscribe or provide their contact information via a form.
  • The appearance and functionality of the Link Tree are controlled by custom values, allowing for easy updates without needing to edit the actual funnel pages.

Detailed Workflow Steps

Page Setup:

  • Profile Photo & Bio: Set using custom values, allowing for quick updates without modifying the page directly.
  • Buttons: Up to eight buttons can be displayed. Each button's name and URL are controlled by custom values. If a button's name or URL is set to "none," the button is hidden.

Custom Values:

  • Link Management: Custom values like "Link Tree Button 1 Name" and "Link Tree Button 1 URL" manage button text and links.
  • Auto-Hiding Mechanism: If any button's custom value is set to "none," it will not appear on the live page, streamlining the customization process.

Appearance Customization:

  • Background & Colors: The background image or color, along with button colors, are controlled via custom values. Changing these values updates the appearance instantly.
  • Example: Setting the primary color to yellow and the secondary color to blue will reflect these colors in the buttons and other elements of the Link Tree.

Automation Workflow:

  • Trigger Event: The subscription form submission triggers the B017 O workflow.
  • Actions: Sends notifications to assigned users and tags the contact with "Link Tree Form Submit."
  • Integration: The tag can be used in other workflows or processes to further engage with the contact, although no additional tag router workflow is included.

How It Works: Deep & Technical Level

  • Basic Components: The Link Tree page includes a profile photo, a bio line, and buttons linking to various URLs. Each button is managed via custom values for easy customization.
  • Customization: The profile photo, bio, and buttons are all set up using custom values. For example, "Link Tree Button 1 Name" and "Link Tree Button 1 URL" determine the text and link for the first button.
  • Auto-Hiding Buttons: If the custom value for either the name or the URL of a button is set to "none," the button is automatically hidden. This ensures that only relevant buttons are displayed without manual page editing.

Custom Values Management

  • Dynamic Updates: Custom values control all aspects of the Link Tree, including the profile photo, background image or color, button text, and URLs.
  • Example: In the custom value section, if "Link Tree Button 3 Name" is set to "none," the third button will not appear on the live page, simplifying updates and customization.

Appearance Customization

  • Color Scheme: The background image, background color, and button colors are all adjustable via custom values. Changing the primary or secondary color values updates the page's appearance instantly.
  • Example: If the background color is set to black, it will provide a dark overlay. Adjusting the custom values for colors will change the button colors accordingly.

Automation Workflow (B017-0 Workflow)

  • Subscription Form: The Link Tree includes a subscription form that collects user contact information.
  • Workflow Trigger: When the subscription form is submitted, an automation workflow is triggered.
  • Notifications: The workflow sends in-app and email notifications to the assigned users of the account, informing them of the new subscription.
  • Tagging System: The workflow adds a "Link Tree Form Submit" tag to the contact. This tag can be used to trigger additional workflows or processes, although the module does not have its own tag router workflow due to its simplicity.

By understanding these workflow steps and technical details, you can effectively utilize the Link Tree module to create a central hub for important links and social profiles, enhancing user engagement and simplifying the update process for your clients.
