Contact Associations gives you the ability to link contacts in a way that reflects their unique relationships. This feature allows for the use of custom labels to define and organize associations, offering a clearer and more structured approach to managing contact connections. Efficiently managing contact relationships is key to enhancing communication and operational effectiveness.
Key Features
- Manage Association Labels: Users have full control over their association labels, enabling the creation of new labels, as well as the ability to edit or remove existing ones, ensuring complete flexibility in managing contact relationships.
- Custom Contact Associations: Users can associate contacts using custom labels such as “Parent,” or combinations like "Mother-Daughter" or "Manager-Employee." These custom labels help define relationships with greater specificity.
- View Linked Contacts: A dedicated section within the contact details view displays all linked contacts, grouped by their association labels, providing a clear overview of related contacts.
How It Works
Creating Associations
To create custom labels for Contacts, go to Settings > Objects, then click on the Contacts standard object.
Locate the "+ Create Association" button on the upper right-hand section, then click it to begin creating a new association.
Select the contact object to associate, then choose either a single label or a pair of labels and give them a name.
Optionally, set an internal name for your label. Please note that once the name is saved, it cannot be modified.
Preview the Label configuration, then click Save to retain your changes!
The association labels will then be displayed in the Contacts Association list and can be edited or deleted through the three-dot action menu.
Linking and Viewing Linked Contacts
To link an Association label to a contact, open the contact’s detail page and navigate to the "Associations" section on the right panel.
Click Add next to Contacts to link a contact.
Choose the contact(s) to associate and select the relevant labels for the relationship.
The associated contact(s) will then appear in the contact’s details, and the linked contact will reflect the pairing at their end.
With the ability to manage multiple associations and maintain flexibility in labeling, this feature supports enhanced data organization and helps users maintain clear and structured contact records.
📌Note: A contact can have up to 10 custom labels, allowing for multiple relationship associations to be established and tracked simultaneously.
