Publishing content to Facebook can sometimes be challenging, especially when encountering errors that prevent your posts from appearing as expected. In this guide, we will explore the most common issues you might face, such as problems with Two-Factor Authentication, access tokens, and permissions. We will also address errors related to image validity, link issues, and reconnecting pages. By understanding these common pitfalls and their solutions, you'll be better equipped to troubleshoot and ensure your Facebook content is published smoothly and effectively.
Two-Factor Authentication
If the business page you are managing has two-factor authentication enabled, you must also activate two-factor authentication at your account level. Once this is done, reconnect your account to resolve the error.
Please note that the user must hold an administrator, editor, or moderator role on the page to successfully integrate it.
Error Validating Access Token
This means that the session has been invalidated because the admin has changed their password or Facebook has changed the session for security reasons. Your session/access token to Facebook has expired. This happens if you:
- Changed your account password.
- Have not made a post to Facebook in the past 90 days from the Social planner.
Abusive/ Reported Contents/ Link Goes Against Community Standard
Be cautious about what you share online, as your message may be restricted if it contains content that others on Facebook have reported as abusive or inappropriate. Your post will not be published if it violates Facebook's Community Standards.
'Manage_Permissions' must be Granted
If you're publishing content to a client's social media pages and haven't been granted administrator access, you will encounter this error. Ensure that you have the necessary administrative permissions for the pages. Additionally, when connecting the account, make sure to grant the "manage_permissions" access to the Pages section to ensure your posts are published without any issues.
Missing or Invalid Image
If you've scheduled social media posts and the link provided for the image becomes inaccessible, you will encounter an error with your scheduled post. Ensure that all links are active and functioning to avoid any disruptions in publishing.
An Unknown Error Occurred
If you're encountering this error, it is likely due to insufficient permissions granted by your Facebook page access token to publish content. While some posts may publish successfully, others may fail. To resolve this issue, reconnect your pages and ensure that all necessary permissions are granted during the Facebook Page connection process.
"The URL you Supplied is Invalid" or “This Link Could not be Posted”
When publishing a message that includes a link, Facebook automatically reviews and indexes the link. However, if Facebook's servers are overloaded at the time of your request, they may fail to index the link, resulting in one of the common errors mentioned. Typically, Facebook will still complete the indexing process, so attempting to publish the message again after a few minutes often resolves the issue without further problems.
Unable to Reconnect a Page/Group in the Social Planner
To reconnect a page or group within the Social Planner tab, go to the Social Planner settings and navigate to the Facebook section. Here, you will see a list of all connected Facebook accounts. Simply click the “Reconnect” button next to the relevant account to restore the connection. Alternatively, you can delete the connection to the Facebook Page/Group by clicking the trash icon before attempting to reconnect.
To fully disconnect Facebook, navigate to Settings > Integrations, then click the "Connected" button within the Facebook section. This will open a confirmation modal for you to proceed with the disconnection.
After confirming the disconnection, you can click the "Connect" button again to reauthorize accounts that have expired tokens.
Please note that the account being reconnected must have page admin privileges to be fully functional.
By familiarizing yourself with these common Facebook publishing errors and their solutions, you can effectively troubleshoot issues and ensure your content is shared seamlessly. Whether it's handling Two-Factor Authentication, managing permissions, or addressing token errors, understanding these challenges helps you maintain a smooth and efficient posting process.
