Why Set a Default Country?

Setting a default country for contacts has several benefits:

  • Accuracy: Ensures that communications and automations that depend on the country field operate correctly.
  • Personalization: Tailors interactions and campaigns to the appropriate regional context.
  • Compliance: Helps maintain compliance with regional regulations, especially for communications and data privacy.

Default Country Setting in Go High Level

By default, Go High Level sets the USA as the default country if a contact does not have the country field filled out. This can be a limitation for businesses operating primarily outside the USA. Fortunately, Go High Level allows you to customize this setting within your workflows.

How to Change the Default Country

To change the default country, you need to edit the action in the last "NONE" branch of your workflow. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Access Your Workflows:

  • Navigate to Automations > Workflows.

Edit the Workflow:

  • Open the B-013-WF-1.0. Set Contact Country -> Set Holiday Dates workflow.
  • Find the last "NONE" branch in the workflow. This branch handles cases where the country field is not filled out.

Modify the Action in the "NONE" Branch:

  • In the "NONE" branch, locate the action that sets the default country.
  • Edit this action to change the default country from the USA to your desired country.
    • Example: If you want to set the default country to Canada, update the action to assign "Canada" to the country field when it is blank.

Save and Test Your Workflow:

  • Save the changes to your workflow.
  • Run a test to ensure that new contacts without a specified country now default to your chosen country.
