Customizing Email and SMS Templates
Before diving into the workflow setup, it's crucial to customize your email and SMS templates. Personalization and relevance are key to engaging your audience and nurturing leads effectively.
Steps to Customize Your Templates
Access Your Templates:
- Navigate to the Templates section in Go High Level.
- Select the template you are working on (e.g., Nurture Template).
Edit Custom Values:
- Update the placeholders such as {{FirstName}}, {{BusinessName}}, {{PrimaryColor}}, etc.
- Custom Values help you maintain consistency and save time when editing multiple templates.
Personalize the Content:
- Customize the greeting to make it personal (e.g., "Hello {{FirstName}},").
- Tailor the message content to align with your marketing goals and the specific stage of the customer journey.
Include Strong CTAs:
- Ensure each template includes a clear and compelling call-to-action (CTA).
- Use actionable language that guides the recipient toward the desired action (e.g., "Download your free guide now!", "Schedule a consultation today!").
Adjust Visual Elements:
- For email templates, update the design elements to match your brand identity. This includes colors, fonts, and images.
- Ensure the visual design is responsive and looks good on all devices.
Setting Up the Nurture Workflow
Once your templates are customized, you can set up the nurture workflow. Follow these steps to ensure your workflow is effective and efficient.
Steps to Set Up the Nurture Workflow
Create a New Workflow:
- Go to Automations > Workflows > Create New Workflow.
- Name the workflow (e.g., "Nurture Sequence for Leads").
Add Triggers:
- Define the trigger that will start the workflow (e.g., form submission, tag added).
Add Email and SMS Steps:
- Insert the customized email and SMS templates into the workflow sequence.
- Schedule the timing for each message based on your nurture strategy (e.g., send an email three days after the trigger, followed by an SMS two days later).
Add Wait Steps:
- Between each email and SMS step, add wait steps to control the timing of the messages.
- Example: After sending an email, add a wait step for three days before sending the next message.
Insert a Final Wait Step:
- After the last template in the workflow, add a wait step of 9999 days. This serves as a placeholder if you choose to leave the workflow open-ended.
- This step prevents the workflow from inadvertently ending and ensures you have the flexibility to add more steps in the future if needed.
Importance of the 9999-Day Wait Step
Adding a wait step of 9999 days at the end of your workflow is a crucial best practice. Here’s why:
- Prevents Premature Ending: It ensures the workflow doesn't end abruptly, allowing you to keep the contact in the sequence for future actions.
- Flexibility for Future Steps: This placeholder gives you the flexibility to add more steps later without having to reconfigure the workflow.
- Maintains Engagement: By keeping the workflow open, you maintain the ability to re-engage contacts with new offers or updates over time.
Final Review and Testing
Before activating your nurture workflow, it’s essential to review and test everything thoroughly.
Review the Workflow:
- Go through each step to ensure all content is accurate and properly timed.
- Verify that all Custom Values are correctly applied.
Test the Workflow:
- Run a test with a sample contact to see how the messages are delivered and how the workflow progresses.
- Make any necessary adjustments based on the test results.
Activate the Workflow:
- Once you’re satisfied with the setup and testing, activate the workflow to start nurturing your leads.
